Carlos Alcaraz is back on the practice court, preparing for the North American swing following a well-earned post-Wimbledon break. World no. 2 hit the court at the La Manga Club in Cartagena, Murcia. 

The five-time Major champion trained with a familiar face – Rafa Segado. The two go way back to their days at the JC Ferrero Academy. Segado competes in college tennis for the Florida Gators.

Carlos suffered his first loss in the Major finals in London, falling to Jannik Sinner in four sets and missing his third straight Wimbledon crown. The Spaniard opted to skip the Canada Masters in Toronto to recharge. 

After embracing a couple of entertaining weeks with his family and friends, the 22-year-old is back on the court, getting ready for his return in Cincinnati, the seventh Masters 1000 event of the season.

With minimal points to defend in Cincinnati and the US Open, Carlos sees a prime opportunity to close the gap on Jannik in the ATP rankings and chase the ATP throne for the first time since 2023! 

The Spaniard is plotting a strong summer run – one that could propel him back toward the no. 1 spot. Alcaraz is leading the ATP Race ahead of Sinner following a brilliant run since April. 

The young gun has reached six consecutive finals, embracing his career-best winning streak and lifting four trophies, including a Major and two Masters 1000 shields.

Carlos bested his rivals in Monte Carlos and Rome. He used that boost and defended the Roland Garros title after one of the most thrilling Major finals in tennis history. 

Alcaraz defeated Sinner 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 on Court Philippe-Chatrier, saving three match points and moving over the top after five hours and 29 minutes. The same rivals met in the Wimbledon final. 

The Spaniard claimed the opener before the Italian responded and notched a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory in just over three hours. Thus, Carlos experienced his first defeat in the Major finals. 

The young gun will work hard on improvements ahead of Cincinnati and the US Open, setting his eyes on the two notable events and hoping to steal his greatest rival's glory.

Novak Djokovic's quest for the record-equalling eighth Wimbledon crown came to a sudden halt in the semi-final. Jannik Sinner stopped the legend 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 55 minutes. 

Thus, the Italian defeated the Serb for the fifth straight time and handed the 24-time Major winner's third straight loss in the Major semi-final, a rare scene unseen for 15 years!

Alongside that, Novak experienced his worst defeat in the completed matches in the semi-final at Majors. Djokovic is 37-15 in this round on the most notable scene. However, he never took only ten games before, excluding two retirements.

The Serb contemplated his third retirement in the Major semi-finals. Novak fell on a match point in the quarter-final duel against Flavio Cobolli. He injured his left hip area and struggled physically against world no. 1.

Despite obvious discomfort, the 38-year-old refused to retire at Majors for the second time this season. He tried his best and had a chance to move 4-0 in front in the third set before Sinner turned the tables.

The Italian dominated the baseline. He tamed his strokes superbly, reducing the number of mistakes and drawing over 30 errors from the seven-time champion who chased his seventh consecutive All England Club final.

While Novak stayed in touch in the quickest exchanges, Jannik outplayed him completely in the more demanding ones following the Serb's struggles with movement and rhythm.

Djokovic took a medical timeout and gave everything in his quest to extend the battle. However, he embraced his career-worst performance behind the second serve, taking five of 30 points and suffering five breaks from ten opportunities presented to world no. 1.

Jannik made a reliable start and dominated sets one and two for a massive advantage. Novak grabbed his only break early in the third set and had a break point that could have sent him 4-0 in front. 

Instead, the Italian saved it and held, reducing the gap and pulling the break back. Sinner secured another return game and held in the tenth game and wrap up a perfect day at the office. 

Before this match, Djokovic's worst defeat in the completed semi-final matches at Majors came 18 years ago at Roland Garros, with Rafael Nadal ousting him 7-5, 6-4, 6-2.

After the semi-final run at Wimbledon and his fifth straight loss to Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic is enjoying a well-earned break with his family on the stunning Greek island of Mykonos.

The legend has embraced the summer sun, extending his vacation after previously spending time in Montenegro and Croatia, his regular July destinations.

Known for his intense dedication to outdoor activities with his kids, Novak is now fully embracing that mode – beaches, clear blue waters and quality time with his beloved ones away from the court.

Mykonos, with its idyllic landscapes and calm atmosphere, offers the perfect setting for Djokovic to recharge physically and mentally ahead of the upcoming challenges in Cincinnati and the US Open.

The 38-year-old should hit the court again in two weeks at the Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati. It will be Novak's first hard-court event since fighting for the Miami Masters crown at the end of March.

Djokovic defends only 100 points at the upcoming two notable events. That opens the window for him to reduce the gap to the rivals in front of him, especially if he embraces deep runs in Ohio and New York.

Novak is eager to play at his best at the US Open and extend his notable run at Majors, having reached three semi-finals in 2025. For now, the 24-time Major winner remains in vacation mode, soaking up the Aegean sun and preparing for the road ahead.

Despite his age, the 38-year-old is still the third-strongest link on the ATP Tour this season, miles behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner but still in front of much younger competitors.

Aryna Sabalenka may have gone to Greece to try to relax after Wimbledon but admitted in a new vlog that she felt like "a loser" and that she couldn't fully enjoy her time in Mykonos because she still had thought about what happened at The Championships.

This year, Sabalenka appeared to be primed to finally make her Wimbledon breakthrough. But she was hit with a cold shower after Amanda Anisimova upset her in the semifinal. For the 27-year-old Belarusian, it was her third consecutive loss in the last-four stage at The All England Club.

In her post-match presser, Sabalenka didn't hide her disappointment but she also remarked that she was going to Mykonos, where she would be hard on alcohol and sweets. Now, ahead of her return to action in North America, the 27-year-old shed light on how she felt during the vacation.

"I think it’s important to go and have fun and enjoy life. But it’s so f—— annoying about being an athlete, honestly. All your life depends on your result. I am going to be there on the beach thinking it’s so beautiful, but I lost. I am such a loser. I hate myself. It’s like you are constantly living your life in these ups and downs," the 27-year-old said.

On paper, Sabalenka has had a great year at Grand Slams as she has been consistently delivering. But the world No. 1 still remains without her fourth Grand Slam title. At the start of the year, the Belarusian fell short to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final. A couple of months later, she also lost to Coco Gauff in the French Open title match.

Sabalenka will hope to at least defend her US Open title and make some amends. 

Biarritz Cup, Dubuisson wins in the playoffs

Frenchman Victor Dubuisson won the Biarritz Cup with a 188 (62, 65, 61, -19) stroke. This is one of Europe's oldest amateur events, founded in 1899, and for its 126th edition, it was organized in collaboration with the Alps Tour, which also included amateurs. After finishing tied with Spaniard Jorge Maicas (188 – 67, 61, 60), the Frenchman then overtook him with a birdie on the second playoff hole. Dubuisson, a 35-year-old from Cannes, was the undisputed favorite. He has played 226 matches on the DP World Tour, including two titles and a 2014 Ryder Cup appearance on the victorious Team Europe.

On the par-69 Golf de Biarritz course in France, two Italians finished in the top ten: Matteo Cristoni, seventh with a 193 (63 63 67, -14) and Filippo Grossi, ninth with a 194 (69 61 64, -13).

Behind the two protagonists is Irishman Ronan Mullarney, leader after two rounds and third with a 189 (-18), knocked out by a bogey on the 17th hole. In fourth place with a 191 (-16) is Frenchman Quentin Debove, fifth with a 192 (-15), Spaniard Asier Aguirre Izcue and Frenchman Augustin Hole, while his compatriot Victor Veyret joined Matteo Cristoni.

Of the other Italians, Jacopo Vecchi Fossa finished 12th with a 195 (-12), and Alessandro Nardini and Manfredi Manica also cashed in, finishing 25th with a 200 (-7), Mattia Comotti, 33rd with a 201 (-6), and Luca Memeo and Andrea Romano, 40th with a 202 (-5).

In the third round, a hole in one was achieved by French amateur Gregoire Hoyeau (25th with Nardini and Manica) who hit the 171-metre par 3 7th hole directly from the tee using a 6-iron.

His caddy, Ted Scott, was an important figure along the way. 

During a guest appearance on one of the podcasts, Scottie Scheffler referred to the golden medal in Paris, placing a special emphasis on the caddy. 

The American golfer is delighted with Scott's behavior, manners, and attitudes.

Although some often downplay the role of caddies in the success of golfers like Scottie Scheffler, the famous golfer stresses that Scott has always been a person whose advice was key for him.

“Teddy is an amazing caddie. He is a great person. He is one of those guys that when he meets somebody they feel like they are his best friend because he treats people so well. He is an amazing guy to be around. Everybody is his best friend. He is extremely likeable,” Scheffler said.

“So having him on the bag, he works as hard as I do, if not harder. So when he gives me information out on the golf course I can really trust knowing that he is not just making stuff up. He knows exactly what slope is up there and how the ball is going to react. He just knows his stuff so I can just go out there and try and hit the shot. I feel like with both of us out there his preparation is so important to what we do. He is just a great asset to me on the golf course and he’s one of my best friends in the whole world too, he’s just an all round great guy.”

Scheffler had a lot of trouble on the greens, but his caddy played a key role by offering to help him read putts on the remaining nine holes. 

Scheffler then played great, as he hit almost all the putts and in the end won the gold medal. 

The 29-year-old admitted that he probably wouldn't have been able to win the gold if Scott hadn't been by his side at the time.

Struggling Naomi Osaka ditches coach Patrick Mouratoglou

Naomi Osaka is making a major change at the start of the North American hard-court swing as the former world No. 1 decided to call time on her partnership with coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Last week, the Japanese kicked off her summer on hard courts in Washington, where she defeated Yulia Putintseva in her opener before being bounced by Emma Raducanu in straight sets. Overall, the four-time Grand Slam champion is 21-12 this year and ranked at No. 49 in the world – a far cry from where she wants to be.

After failing to rediscover her old form, Osaka split with Wim Fissette following the conclusion of the 2024 US Open. The 27-year-old hired Mouratoglou shortly after. Now, less than a year of working together, they are separating. 

"Merci Patrick. It was such a great experience learning from you. Wishing you nothing but the best. You are one of the coolest people I've ever met and I'm sure I'll see you around," the four-time Grand Slam champion announced through an Instagram Story.

How Osaka's tenure with Mouratoglou went?

When Osaka hired Mouratoglou – who worked with Serena Williams for a decade and achieved massive success – she was hoping the French coach could lead her to the Promised Land. It didn't happen and their partnership is now a thing of the past.

When it comes to the Japanese's 2025 season, two results stand out – a runner-up finish in Auckland and her first clay title at the WTA 125 (Challenger) tournament in Saint-Malo. 

Now that Mouratoglou is gone, it will be interesting to see if Osaka brings someone to assist her or if she decides to go solo for some time. 

Today, the former world No. 1 is starting her campaign at the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal, where she plays against world No. 515 Ariana Arseneault. The Japanese's form may not be the best but she enters as the major favorite against the 515th-ranked Canadian.

Bianca Andreescu went through a painful moment very late in her Montreal opener as the former world No. 4 badly rolled her ankle on a match point. 

Serving for the match at 5-3 in the second set against 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova, the Canadian twisted her ankle and fell on the court instantly. Moments after the injury scare, the 2019 US Open winner yelled, "Why does this always happen to me?"

Andreescu, who was in evident pain and discomfort, was assisted to her bench, where she was treated by the trainer. Ultimately, the Canadian – who received a wildcard for this year's tournament in Montreal – managed to resume play and complete a 6-3 6-4 win.

The Montreal crowd prompted the 25-year-old to continue playing and gave her the extra energy. And after the current world No. 187 managed to get over the finish line, she became emotional but also acknowledged the crowd's help.

"You guys are everything. I'm super happy I was able to pull through and it's thanks to you guys," the home player told the crowd.

Andreescu's injury history is well-documented as she has struggled with various injuries over the last several years. 

After taking part in the Tokyo tournament in 2024 October, the Canadian decided to take a break to address her back injury. The 25-year-old returned to action in April. Since coming back to tennis, she has posted a 12-8 record and she is ranked just inside the top-200.

In the Montreal second round, Andreescu is due to meet Mirra Andreeva. It remains to be seen if tshe will be impacted by the ankle injury.

Washington: Alex de Minaur saves three MPs, edges Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

Alex de Minaur secured his tenth ATP title in Washington. The Aussie earned a memorable 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 victory over his coeval, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in three hours and three minutes!

The Spaniard had everything in his hands while chasing his first ATP title. He led 5-2 in the decider and served for the win at 5-3. He got broken, missed three match points on the return at 5-4 and suffered a heartbreaking loss that left him in tears.

The Aussie claimed 11 points more thanks to the second set. He played better behind the first serve and took the pivotal points to emerge at the top after a thriller.

Alex denied five of eight break points, including those three match points. He secured four breaks from nine chances, two in the second set. They sprayed over 100 unforced errors. 

De Minaur had the upper hand in service winners, from the baseline and at the net, earning his victory in style. They stayed neck and neck in the shortest and mid-range exchanges, and the better-ranked player made the difference in the most extended ones.

They battled for over an hour in the opening set. They traded breaks in games three and four and stayed neck and neck until 5-5. The Aussie missed a game point in game 11 and suffered a break after a backhand error.

Davidovich Fokina saved a break point at 6-5 and wrapped up the first part of the duel with a smash winner. De Minaur took charge in the second set, serving well and keeping the pressure on the other side. 

He secured an early break in the second game and provided another break for 5-1. Alex fired an ace in the seventh game, closing the set in style and forcing a decider after an hour and 42 minutes.

Alejandro stepped in and produced four fine holds. He attacked on the return in game four and landed a backhand crosscourt winner for a break and a 3-1 advantage. The Spaniard held in game seven and moved 5-2 in front.

However, he failed to serve out for the title at 5-3, spraying a forehand error and allowing his rival to extend the battle. De Minaur faced the ultimate challenge on his serve at 4-5 after squandering game points.

The Aussie played against three match points, denying two with winners and the third with a forced error. He held for 5-5 and gained a boost ahead of the tie break. They traded four mini-breaks i the opening seven points. 

Alejandro missed a forehand at 3-4 and experienced another mini-break after netting a routine forehand. De Minaur seized the first match point at 6-3 with an ace, sealing the deal and lifting his tenth ATP trophy after a turnaround.

Emma Raducanu rewarded for great Washington run with her best ranking since 2022

Emma Raducanu's deep Washington run came with a solid reward as the British tennis player gained 13 spots on the updated WTA rankings and now sits at No. 33 in the world.

After returning to the top-40 for the first time in years a few months ago, the 2021 US Open champion exited the top-40 club recently and she entered Washington as the 46th-ranked player in the game. Although unseeded, the 22-year-old put up a good run and made the semifinal at the WTA 500 tournament in the United States capital before falling short to Anna Kalinskaya.

For Raducanu, it was heavily disappointing not to reach her first final since 2021 in Washington. However, the Briton still has something to be happy about as she is back inside the top-35 for the first time since 2022. Also, she is now once again the top-ranked British female tennis player.

Last week, the 22-year-old decided to publicly praise herself. When doing so, she spoke positively about her game but also her tennis outfits.

"I think when I watch myself now, I really like how I look on the court. Not in like a narcissistic way. I mean in terms of energy, and I think I feel quite upbeat. The pink outfit is pretty cute as well. I think it's more I look composed on the court. I feel composed. I think that's a product of just the amount of work I'm doing behind the scenes that maybe people don't see. I love that, I love banking it in, doing everything in the shadows," Raducanu said in Washington.

This week, Raducanu is competing at the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal. Since the new world No. 33 didn't play at the Canadian Open last year, she could clinch some solid ranking points if she makes a run. 

Raducanu plays against Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the Montreal first round. In the past, they played once – in the 2024 Auckland first round – and the British tennis player won that match in three sets.

Umag: Luciano Darderi wins title, joins Jannik Sinner on the list

Luciano Darderi enjoy two thrilling weeks in Bastad and Umag. The 23-year-old Italian conquered two titles and became the third player with at least three ATP titles in 2025, joining Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Bublik on the list.

Darderi gained a boost in Bastad and carried it to Umag, lifting his fourth clay-court ATP 250 title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Carlos Taberner in an hour and 26 minutes. 

Thus, Luciano became the fourth Italian champion in Umag and the first since Jannik Sinner in 2022. With 500 ATP points within two weeks, the 23-year-old moved closer to his career-high ranking position.

The Italian struggled a bit with a left ankle injury. He felt the pain after celebrating the title, with Taberner helping him to reach the bench, where he received help. That aside, it was a flawless performance from Darderi.

The 2nd seed took 18 points more than his rival. Luciano dropped seven points in nine service games, facing no break points and mounting the pressure on the other side. 

Taberner dropped 40% of the points in his games and gave serve away three times from five chances presented to his opponent. The favorite tamed his strokes nicely and landed 20 winners and 17 unforced errors. 

He had the upper hand in service winners and from the baseline, building a massive advantage in the shortest range up to four strokes. Luciano lost two points in five service games in the opening set.

He fired a forehand crosscourt winner in the sixth game, providing a break and moving 4-2 in front. They continued after a short rain delay, and Darderi held at 15 in game nine for 6-3 in 40 minutes.

Carlos suffered another break in the fifth game of the second set, sending a backhand wide and moving closer to the exit door. Darderi held at 30 in the next one and moved 4-2 in front.

The Italian held at love in game eight for 5-3 and made a push on the return in the next one. He seized the second match point with a forced error, falling to the ground and celebrating his second title from as many weeks.

"We've always joked, Ted Scott (former caddie), when he was with me for 15 years, we always joked if I could hit it about six inches further I'd win more tournaments.

That's what we tried to do. We tried to get a heavier hammer as we call it so the ball rolls a little bit further. It's easier to get the distance. It's been working so far."

"Yeah, it was the first time that I played with Tom since he joined. I never played with him.

I enjoyed playing with him. I think he's a great golfer. Obviously he's had the results before. He was in the top 10 on DP World. He probably hasn't had the results he wants to on LIV so far, but I think he's going to be all right. He's really young. You can tell coming from Ireland, I think they build pretty good golfers there, and the way he controls the ball into the wind and his short game, yeah, he's going to be great.

It was good fun playing with him, and you can tell he's a confident player."- he said.

Happy Gilmore 2 caused an avalanche of reactions in the public, and important figures of the golf scene shared their opinion about it.

The movie, the sequel that golf fans have been eagerly awaiting, has finally been released.

Famous faces of the golf scene such as McIlroy, Schauffele and many others appear in this movie. 

During a podcast, Scottie Scheffler shared his thoughts on the sequel to the legendary movie, admitting that he laughed the most at Schauffele's performance in the film.

The 29-year-old is delighted with their lines and acting. 

Scheffler pointed out several names that caught his attention the most.

“The one I laughed the hardest at, and I actually texted Xander this the other day, his lines in the movie are really, really funny,” Scheffler said.

“Him and Rickie did a really good job. So did Will Zalatoris. To be honest with you, I thought everyone did a really great job. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for real actors to deal with us trying to make a movie not look terrible and they did a really good job of helping us along. It was really entertaining and really funny.”

Happy Gilmore 2: Reactions

Happy Gilmore 2 has received mostly positive reactions from the public, with many fans admitting that they laughed and enjoyed it. 

This movie had been anticipated for a long time, and the directors and producers have clearly met the public’s expectations.

It will be interesting to see if Scheffler will be a part of similar projects in the future, although he is not a person prone to such things. 

The 29-year-old wants to be as far away from the public eye as possible, primarily focused on playing and dominating the golf scene.

There was talk that the American might start a YouTube channel, but Scottie admits that he doesn't have much time for it, primarily focused on his family and career. 

Still, we'll see what the future holds.

Washington: Leylah Fernandez destroys Anna Kalinskaya for fourth WTA title

Leylah Fernandez claimed the Washington title in style after destroying Anna Kalinskaya 6-1 6-2 in just an hour and nine minutes of play. 

Early in the match, it was actually world No. 48 Kalinskaya who had two break points in the third game. But after saving those two break points and opening a 2-1 lead, Fernandez went on to also win the next four games and bag the opener.

After dropping the first set, Kalinskaya served out the opening game of the second set. But just as she did in the first set, the Canadian went on a five-game run and opened a 5-1 lead before serving out for the match in the eighth game.

For Fernandez, this was her first Washington title and overall her fourth WTA title. Also, this was her first WTA main glory since she made it all the way in Hong Kong in late 2023.

"I want to dedicate this trophy to my mom, my oldest sister, and my fitness trainer. You guys have been fighting all year round and still are fighting. Thank you so much for never giving up on me. Don’t give up on yourselves. This trophy is for you guys. Hopefully we can celebrate all together very very soon," the Canadian tennis star said.

Fernandez will now fly to Montreal, where she is as the home star will take on Maya Joint in the first round of the Canadian WTA 1000 tournament.

European Young Masters, Germany triumphs

Italy (Matteo Manini, Anita Marrone, Alice Alexandra Negroni, Leonardo Zanardi) finished 14th with a score of 663 (220, 220, 223, +15) in the European Young Masters, which concluded on the par-72 Golf du Racing Club de France – La Boulie course in Versailles, France. Germany won with a score of 635 (214, 210, 211, -13), ahead of defending title holders France, who finished second with a score of 640 (-8), and the Czech Republic, third with a score of 642 (-6). Spain and England finished fourth with a score of 643 (-5).

European Young Masters, results

In the men's individual rankings, Czech Stepan Plasek (204 – 67 68 69, -12) took the win, leading the race, leaving Germany's Colin Barmann and Bjarne Murr and Switzerland's Kai Notteboom (208, -8) four strokes behind. In fifth place was Spain's Samuel Love Li with a score of 209 (-7), Zanardi (Croara) in 31st with a score of 224 (72 71 81, +8), and Manini (Le Fonti) in 41st with a score of 228 (75 79 74, +12).

In the women's race, England's Ellie Lichtenhein prevailed with a score of 213 (70 70 73, -3), ahead of compatriot Annabel Peaford and France's Axelle Guillemard and Salomè Lumbaca (215, -1). The last Italian victory in the event, now in its 30th edition, was achieved by Natalia Aparicio in 2023 (with Italy finishing second in the team event) in the women's individual event, twenty-five years after Diana Luna, who won the title in 1998, preceded by Barbara Paruscio, in the inaugural tournament in 1995, and Giulia Sergas (1997).

Italy has also won the Nations Cup four times (1997, 1998, 2007, 2012) and three men's individual titles with Roberto Paolillo (1997), Matteo Manassero (2007), and Renato Paratore (2012).

Padraig Harrington showed his superiority in yet another tournament, playing a brilliant third round with five birdies and one bogey for a total of 65 shots, finishing the day 13 shots under par. 

While Harrington has impressed the public with his qualities for the umpteenth time, it seems that he is a bit scared by the bad feeling on the golf course. 

The experienced golfer hopes to keep the lead and finish the final day in style.

“I don’t feel very good about how I’m hitting the ball,” he said, as quoted by Golf Today.

“So trying to get away from that and not worry so much about that because clearly I’m scoring well.

Better off shooting 13-under par and not feeling so good about it than thinking you’re swinging it great and being level par.”

The 53-year-old is motivated to do great things at this tournament, aware that a serious task awaits him. The Irish golfer last celebrated at the US Senior Open last month, and it seems that he is currently the most dominant figure on the senior Tour. 

The Irish golfer hopes to win this tournament and join legends like Gary Player, Tom Watson, Darren Clark and Bob Charles, who won both the Open Championship and the ISPS HANDA Senior Open.

During his career, Padraig has shown that he is a golfer who really belongs at the very top, but many are amazed by his dedication and desire, as he is in his serious years, when many play this sport recreationally.

Washington: Alejandro Davidovich Fokina bests Ben Shelton

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will chase his first ATP title in a career in Washngton. The Spaniard bested Ben Shelton 6-2, 7-5 in the semi-final in an hour and 19 minutes, advancing to his fourth ATP final and the third of the season.

Davidovich Fokina left the home star behind in the opening set and grabbed three straight games in the closing stages of the second set for a notable victory. Alejandro will crack the top-20 with these points, regardless of the final outcome.

The Spaniard is 8-0 against left-handers in 2025. He is also the fourth player with five top-10 victories this season, joining Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti on the exclusive list.

Ben could not produce the magic behind the initial shot from the previous matches. He served at 55% and dropped42% of the points in his games. The home player faced six break points and got broken four times. 

Alejandro dropped 14 points in ten service games, suffering one break in the second set and outplaying his rival. They sprayed too many unforced errors. The Spaniard tamed his strokes more efficiently and bested the top-10 star from the baseline. 

They stayed neck and neck in the quickest exchange up to four strokes, and the lower-ranked player had the upper hand in the more advanced ones. Davidovich Fokina made a reliable start.

He served well in the opener and kept the pressure on the other side. Shelton sprayed a forehand error in the fifth game, losing serve and falling behind. The Spaniard cemented the lead with a forehand down the line winner in the next one.

A left-hander struggled again on serve in game seven and netted a forehand to experience another break and fall 5-2 behind. Alejandro landed an ace in the eighth game, wrapping up the opening set 6-2 in 27 minutes.

Ben played against a break point at 2-2 in the second set and saved it with a service winner. However, he played a loose drop shot two games later, losing serve and sending his rival 4-3 in front.

The Spaniard played his only loose service game in the next one, placing a forehand wide and losing serve to bring the home favorite back to the positive side. 

Shelton sprayed a backhand error in the 11th game and got broken when his opponent painted a forehand down the line winner. Davidovich Fokina served for the win at 6-5 and fired a powerful serve for a hold at 15 and his fourth ATP final, the third of the season.

Elena Rybakina has had three shocking collapses since French Open

Elena Rybakina has had a couple of concerning collapses this year and the latest came this past on Saturday, when the Kazakh blew a big lead and suffered a shock Washington semifinal loss.

After sealing a tight first set versus world No. 36 Leylah Fernandez, the No. 3 seed also went 3-1 up in the second set and had three consecutive break points to open a double-break second-set lead. 

But then, Rybakina's troubles started. First, the Kazakh didn't manage to get a break in the fifth game. Then, the 2022 Wimbledon champion got broken for the very first time in the match when she was serving to seal the win in the 10th game. To make it all worse, she completely disappeared in the second-set tie-break and won only three points there.

The third set was an extremely tight contest as not a single break point was seen. But then, the tie-break quickly turned into a one-sided battle as Fernandez took the opening four points before completing a 6-7 (2) 7-6 (3) 7-6 (3) comeback win.

It is not the first time this has happened to Rybakina this year

Over the last two months, Rybakina – ranked at No. 12 – has had three baffling losses. 

In the French Open round-of-16, the Kazakh was all over Iga Swiatek early on and opened a dominant 6-1 2-0 lead before allowing the Pole to come back and win 1-6 6-3 7-5. In the Berlin quarterfinal, the 2022 Wimbledon champion had four consecutive match points in the third-set tie-break against Aryna Sabalenka before stunningly losing the next six points and seeing the Belarusian win 7-6 (6) 3-6 7-6 (6).

In Washington, Rybakina had yet another collapse and lost herself when the time came for her to get over the finish line. 

Rybakina is now 33-14 on the year. She has been ranked outside the top-10 since April and that won't change on Monday. 

Joaquin Niemann shares how he bounced back after a tough week at The Open

Joaquin Niemann's goals: What can we expect?

Fans expect that the Chilean golfer will have an easy task in the last round, having strong foundations to record another victory at LIV Golf.

Joaquin is certainly one of the more famous names on the controversial Tour, and a golfer who has great potential to achieve many more victories by the end of the season.

While a lead of six strokes is very optimistic, it is difficult to give a real answer as to whether Joaquin will be equally dominant in the final round.

Jannik Sinner reaches final at all four Majors faster than Rafael Nadal

Jannik Sinner's run at Majors has been nothing but spectacular in the previous two years! The Italian's relentless rise continued at Wimbledon a couple of weeks ago, lifting his first trophy at the All England Club.

By reaching the final in London, Jannik collected title matches at all four Majors as the ninth player in the Open era. At 23 years and ten months, Sinner became the second player to achieve that, passing Rafael Nadal and trailing only Jim Courier!

The great Spaniard got his name on the list at the 2010 US Open at 24 years and three months. Roger Federer entered the chart at the 2006 Roland Garros, two months before turning 25, and Novak Djokovic joined at the same tournament six years later at 25.

Jim Courier holds the record, completing the final at all four Majors at Wimbledon in 1993, still at 22. Jannik could not match him, but the names he left behind speak volumes about his achievement.

Sinner has reached seven semi-finals at the previous nine Majors, with five titles matches and four titles under his belt. The Italian celebrated 81 times in his first 100 matches on the most notable scene, a tally few can match.

More impressively, he has been nearly unstoppable at last four Major events, compiling a staggering 27-1 record and lifting trophies in New York, Melbourne and London.

Donald Trump’s golf course debut and Scottish minister meeting on same day

Donald Trump's arrival in Scotland caused a barrage of reactions from the public. Citizens of Scotland were not particularly open about his arrival at the golf course in Turnberry, but also about Trump's visit to Scotland in general.

The American president arrived in the European country to meet with Ursula von der Leyen, as well as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Scottish Prime Minister John Swinney. 

Trump is scheduled to meet with Swinney on Monday and will officially open the second golf course on his Aberdeenshire property at the same time.

The citizens of Scotland are not the only ones who raise their voice, as the citizens of the US are equally frustrated with the politics of the Republican leader. His excessive focus on golf and ignoring construction is where the deepest frustrations lie. 

Trump arrived in Scotland on Friday night, heading to Turnberry. 

His arrival at Turnberry caused a lot of reactions, and the police primarily wanted to ensure Trump's safety with military and police forces. 

A security checkpoint has been set up in front of the hotel, and a tall fence now surrounds the course.

Major Scottish cities such as Aberdeen and Edinburgh saw protests in response to the US president’s visit.

Trump is expected to return on Tuesday, but it remains to be seen how his visit to Scotland will end; and whether he’ll be able to connect with key European political figures.

Novak Djokovic is a living legend of this sport and his ability to push his own limits is amazing, considering that he has already won everything a top-level tennis player can dream of. The 38-year-old from Belgrade has reached the semifinals in all three Grand Slam tournaments that have been played this year, proving that he is still superior to most opponents, but the two current leaders of the men's tour – Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz – have no intention of leaving him room again.

Djokovic is on vacation now

After being overwhelmed by Sinner in the semi-final of the Wimbledon Championships a couple of weeks ago, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has allowed himself a few days to relax in Croatia and then will begin preparing for the Cincinnati Masters 1000.

Nole will not play the Canadian Open this year either, preferring to recharge his batteries ahead of the US Open scheduled in New York at the end of the summer. As chance would have it, Novak won his latest Major title in New York two years ago, when he defeated Russian ace Daniil Medvedev in the final. It seems like much more time has passed, given that the hierarchies of men's tennis have changed profoundly in this period of time.

Meanwhile, young Danish star Holger Rune gave a nice interview in which he was asked who is the player who arrives late most often. The world number 9 chose Djokovic.

Daniil Medvedev had a very hard time accepting a Washington quarterfinal loss as the former world No. 1 hurled his racket and then also violently hit a metal water bottle against the court moments after his defeat.

With French lucky loser Corentin Moutet up 5-4 up in the third set and Medvedev serving to stay in the match, the No. 8 seed sprayed three double faults. After saving two match points, the Russian faced a third – and it was one of the most insane match points you will ever see as it pretty much featured everything and several stunning shots and escaped. Unfortunately for the 2021 US Open champion, it was the Frenchman who took the point and completed a 1-6 6-4 6-4 upset win.

It wasn't shown on the video above but Medvedev threw his racket after losing the match. Then, when he came to his chair, he further took out his frustration on a water bottle.

Medvedev's title drought continues

Had Medvedev defeated Moutet, he would have played Alex de Minaur in the Washington semifinal and come two wins away from finally winning his first ATP title since 2023 May. When the Russian claimed the 2023 Rome Masters title, he improved to 20 titles. Since then, he hasn't lifted a title.

This year, Medvedev came close to winning a title on a few occasions – his best chance came in Halle last month, where he finished as runner-up to Alexander Bublik. The Russian former world No. 1 was also a semifinalist at the Indian Wells Masters and Montpellier.

Medvedev now turns his focus to next week's Toronto Masters, where he has a first-round bye.
